Therapeutic massage has important health benefits. During a session different techniques are sometimes combined to meet the needs of the body. One day you may want therapeutic massage work in a specific area while another visit you're looking to relax and relieve stress for the entire body. Each session is customized to your individual needs.
Stimulate, Energize, Relax, Heal
Relaxation- Also know as Swedish, is a soothing massage that calms the nervous system, reduces mental and physical stress, and helps tired bodies relax and unwind.
Deep Tissue- Focuses on a specific area of deeper layers of tissue with in the body. Using a more direct and deep pressure, slower strokes either follow or go across the fibers of the muscles, tendons and fascia. This technique can be very effective in relaxing and soothing the muscles. Some soreness after deep tissue bodywork may occur. After a short time that soreness goes away and relief should be noticed. Many times more than one treatment is needed to relieve deeply held patterns of muscle tension.
Oncology- Anyone who has gone thru an oncology treatment should seek out a therapist who has had special training. A more in depth history will be taken to ensure the proper positioning, massage strokes and pressure are used as each individual will require different approaches. A doctors approval is usually requested. In most cases, massage can be given with the proper adjustments. However, occasionally, massage may not be appropriate during a certain phase of a treatment. Always ask your doctor for permission and most importantly ask your massage therapist if they have been trained in oncology massage.
Bamboo Fusion**- Hot Bamboo relieves tight, sore and tired muscles using a variety of bamboo pieces. The heat of the bamboo warms the tissue and helps release tension for a truely relaxing experience. This technique and the warmth
of the bamboo can also be used to give that deep tissue feel without causing some of the soreness associated with deep tissue massage.
Reiki- (pronounced "Ray-Key") A system of natural healing Reiki originated in Tibet over 2500 years ago. It is a technique that aids the body in releasing stress and tension, initiates healing and helps relieve pain. An especially good alternative for someone who can not receive a traditional massage treatment. Clients remain fully clothed. Reiki can be done lying down or seated.
Reflexology - This bodywork method uses reflex areas in the feet which corresponds to parts of the body, organs, glands etc... Using the thumb and fingers, reflexology relieves stress and tension throughout the body while only working on the feet. Client remains fully clothed with feet and lower legs exposed.
